Welcome The Medical Centre (Zulu Road)

The Medical Centre opened in 1991 to serve the people of New Basford and surrounding areas. It is a single handed GP surgery run by Dr Khudija Irfan and a Teaching Practice of the University of Nottingham.

We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.

Our Mission Statement

"Our purpose is to ensure those visiting our practice receive high quality and personal care; we aim to achieve this by having a team who are receptive to the patient's needs and expectations.

We want to ensure we deliver services which echo the latest developments in primary care"

Weekend Appointments - Saturday Morning

We wish to inform you that we will no longer be holding clinics on a weekend at this practice. This was a pilot which will end on the 30th June. This means, from 30 June we will no longer be able to offer appointments at the weekend.

Thursday Afternoon Appointment Arrangement

As you are aware, The Medical Centre has a reciprocal arrangement for a Thursday afternoon surgery cover arrangement with three other practices. (Springfield Medical, Riverlyn Medical and Greenfields Medical) . The four surgeries provide clinical cover on a rota basis for the group.

Unfortunately Greenfields Medical Centre has given notice to the Group of practices, advising us that they are terminating their agreement.

We have another practice that would like to offer their services and join the group in the agreement.

The practice is Alice Medical Centre (http://www.bestwoodparkmedicalcentre.co.uk/)

We have arranged a meeting at The Medical Centre for Wednesday 23rd October at 11.30 to meet with all patients that would like to attend in order for us to consult with you and gauge your thoughts on this matter.

If you feel that it is too short notice and that you would not be able to attend, but would like to give your thoughts and feedback, please call the practice, post us a letter or pop in to the practice to relay any thoughts and feedback that you may have regarding this proposed venture.

Serving You

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.

Partners in Care

Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.

Access

Available throughout the single storey premises.  Hearing loop available for patient use at reception.

Thursday Afternoon opening

As from April 2017, the practice will be open on Thursday afternoon. We will be working collaboratively with 3 other practices to deliver a clinic which will rotate to a different centre each week. The following GP surgeries will be working with us to provide this service.

Greenfields Medical Centre, Hyson Green

Riverlyn Medical Centre, Bulwell

Springfield Medical Centre, Bulwell

Staff Training

Occasionally the practice will close in the afternoon from 12.30  for staff training and updates - the following dates have been allocated for this to take place:

Dementia and The Medical Centre, Zulu Road

The Medical Centre Zulu Road has signed up to become a dementia-friendly practice. We will be working with Alzheimer’s Society during the coming year and our staff will be participating in General Practice specific dementia awareness sessions. We will also be carrying out an assessment of how dementia-friendly we are and take steps to improve areas that need attention.

We welcome any feedback about how we are doing from patients, families and carers.

Included here are some useful contacts and links for support or advice if you are living with dementia or caring for someone with dementia.
